SAVE THE DATE!

Join Islesboro Affordable Property and the Genesis Fund for:

A Conversation with John Abrams: Island Affordable Housing and Community
Planning
Wednesday, October 1, 2008 - all day

On behalf of Islesboro Affordable Property (IAP) and the Genesis Fund
I'm pleased to invite up to _two_ representatives from every island
affordable housing organization to attend a day with John Abrams on
Islesboro. Abrams will travel to Islesboro to meet with the IAP board
(and other Islesboro community organizations) to discuss plans for a new
cluster affordable housing development. You are invited to join this
meeting to learn about the development plans and participate in the
discussion. An afternoon session with John Abrams will allow for time to
have more general conversation about island affordable housing
development in Maine (questions, challenges, updates on current projects
and progress). The day will include a site visit to IAP properties.

Much more information about this day, including a detailed agenda with
ferry times, will follow. RSVP to me about attendance from your island
housing organization no later than Friday, September 12th. All Rural
Community Development Initiative (RCDI) grant participants will be
reimbursed for expenses. The day will be funded through the Genesis
Fund's RCDI grant. Please be in touch with any questions.

Best regards,
Liza

John Abrams is cofounder and CEO of South Mountain Company, a
thirty-year-old, employee owned design and building company on Martha's
Vineyard, Massachusetts. He chairs the Island Affordable Housing Fund
and is vice-chair of the Island Housing Trust, two nonprofits dedicated
to solving the community's affordable housing crisis. For many years he
has spoken and written about socially responsible business, affordable
housing, and ecological building issues. In 2006, Abrams was the keynote
speaker at the Island Affordable Housing Symposium in Belfast.
