and the Genesis Fund for:<BR><BR>A Conversation with John Abrams: Island
Affordable Housing and Community <BR>Planning<BR>Wednesday, October 1, 2008 -
all day<BR><BR>On behalf of Islesboro Affordable Property (IAP) and the
Genesis Fund <BR>I'm pleased to invite up to _two_ representatives from every
island <BR>affordable housing organization to attend a day with John Abrams on
<BR>Islesboro. Abrams will travel to Islesboro to meet with the IAP board
<BR>(and other Islesboro community organizations) to discuss plans for a new
<BR>cluster affordable housing development. You are invited to join this
<BR>meeting to learn about the development plans and participate in the
<BR>discussion. An afternoon session with John Abrams will allow for time to
<BR>have more general conversation about island affordable housing
<BR>development in Maine (questions, challenges, updates on current projects
<BR>and progress). The day will include a site visit to IAP
properties.<BR><BR>Much more information about this day, including a detailed
agenda with <BR>ferry times, will follow. RSVP to me about attendance from
your island <BR>housing organization no later than Friday, September 12th. All
Rural <BR>Community Development Initiative (RCDI) grant participants will be
<BR>reimbursed for expenses. The day will be funded through the Genesis

Company, a <BR>thirty-year-old, employee owned design and building company on
Martha's <BR>Vineyard, Massachusetts. He chairs the Island Affordable Housing
Fund <BR>and is vice-chair of the Island Housing Trust, two nonprofits
dedicated <BR>to solving the community's affordable housing crisis. For many
years he <BR>has spoken and written about socially responsible business,
affordable <BR>housing, and ecological building issues. In 2006, Abrams was
the keynote <BR>speaker at the Island Affordable Housing Symposium in
