Dodwell Gallery

Late Summer 2024 at the Dodwell Gallery

Today is a great day to visit the Dodwell Gallery!
We are delighted to welcome back the Maine Art Collective. Our late summer show features the original paintings of Lucille Holt Sottery, Joyanna Margo, and Lynn Ericson, and the driftwood sculptures of Pete Sottery. Each artist’s style is unique to them and their work is serene, joyful and bright – a wonderful pick-me-up on a cloudy day – or any day, for that matter!
All of the art is for sale and the price list is on display and at the library desk. The librarian on duty can assist you with any sales, and artists make a donation to the library for any sale that occurs.

The Dodwell Gallery is named in honor of James and Shirley Dodwell, island artists.   Jim was known for his watercolors.  Many islanders own his paintings and treasure them.  Shirley worked in a variety of mediums, including Tole painting.  The Gallery opened its doors with a show of the work of these two talented artists on July 10th, 2004.

The Dodwell Gallery is located at the Long Island Community Library/Learning Center and is open whenever the Library is open. Most work is for sale, so add this to your shopping spree on your island hopping adventures.
