At the 2012 town meeting the citizens of Long Island approved an ordinance to allow fireworks.\u00a0 This ordinance restricts the use of fireworks to specified times and places and requires a permit.\u00a0 The places where fireworks are allowed include South Beach, Front Beach, Boston Sand and Gravel, Cleaves Landing Beach and East End Beach.\u00a0 This page contains links to information about this activity.<\/p>\n
Please note that all beaches in the Town of Long Island are either owned by the Town of Long Island,\u00a0 the State of Maine or by the owners of the abutting parcels.\u00a0 The maps for the beaches where fireworks are allowed that are listed below show the portions of each beach that is publicly and privately owned and also the names of the private owners.\u00a0 Use of fireworks on the privately owned portion of a beach requires the abutting owner’s permission.<\/p>\n
