TOWN BOARDS and COMMITTEES<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

With the exception of members of the Select Board, who receive a small annual stipend, Long Island relies on volunteers to staff the numerous boards and committees needed to run the town.\u00a0 It typically requires 40+ volunteers to staff the standing town boards and committees. \u00a0This number represents more than 15% of our year-round population.\u00a0 In most cases, volunteers do not have to be Maine residents town boards or committees. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Volunteering is an interesting and rewarding experience. We encourage anyone who cares about our town to consider it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Several town committees have Zoom recordings of their meetings. The Zoom recordings are archived in Town Hall and recent meetings are also also available for viewing on our online document server.<\/p>\n

Town Board and Committee openings are always listed in the What’s New<\/strong> section at the right of this page. \u00a0If there are no listed openings on the Board or Committee you are interested, please contact the Town Clerk (see next paragraph) and ask to be put on a list.<\/span><\/p>\n
