MAHC members and friends:
 
As many of you know, the Blue Ribbon Commission on Affordable Housing presented its final report to the LCRED Committee yesterday. The Commission’s co-chairs, Sen. Tom Martin and Rep. Andre Cushing, presented the report to the Committee and Randy Poulton and Dana Totman followed with testimony in support, calling out key findings and recommendations.
 
The report is very well done and provides a great basis for future legislative efforts to address affordable housing problems. I would encourage you to take a look through the report when you get a chance – it is available on line through the following link: http://www.maine.gov/legis/opla/AffordableHousingStudyrpt.pdf.
 
Thank you to everyone who helped MAHC and the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Cushing, get the legislation passed to create the Commission, and to the Commissioners and legislative staff who developed this substantive and helpful report.
