Weekly Trash Collection

The Town of Long Island is accepting proposals for the weekly collection of trash effective on July 1, 2017. The winning proposal will perform the required work as an independent contractor and be responsible for complying with any and all Federal and state laws.
The selected contractor will assume responsibility for the weekly collection of trash placed in plastic bags inside of covered bins at the roadside every Monday from May 1st until December 31st of each calendar year and every other Monday from January 1st through April 30th of each year.
The selected contractor will provide and maintain at all times insurance coverage amounts for Worker’s compensation; a $1,000,000 comprehensive general liability policy; a $1,000,000 automobile liability policy and $1,000,000 in errors and omissions coverage.
The selected contractor is expected to provide and be solely responsible for the costs of all personnel, labor, machinery, equipment and fuel to provide the services and work. Collected trash can be disposed off at the Town of Long Island Transfer Station at no charge.
Proposals should state the maximum cost per week for the collection.
The agreement when finalized will be for a one year period with the option of two additional one year terms as mutually agreed to by both parties.
The Town reserves the right to waive or amend any requirement of this RFP.
