For a small island community, we sure can put on a good show!

Here is just a brief summary of what took place at the 2009 festival.

We had a sucessful weekend with 18 vendors selling art and crafts, books, baked goods, hotdogs and sandwiches.  The balloonman was a big hit along with the traditional face painting.  The "Goldfish Game" and the "Bouncy House" kept the ticket sales going. The activity games had kids rushing lobsters from one bucket to another while wearing smellie gear!  Everyone enjoyed the days events and the weather was the best all season. No, really it was!

Maxine's  dance students opened the evening entertainment with a spectacular display of Tapping skills and Creative Movemnt. The kids smiled and giggled as they moved about the stage in perfect flow,  never missing a beat.  Music was performed by the Ferguson family: Ben, Becca, and Will.  Chris & Ben LaMontagne both performed as well. All parents and audience members applauded proudly throughout the evening. Our kids were amazing. The 'special surprize dance number' was performed by Rec Dept members Missy Brown, Yvette Dunnigan and Maxine Harmon. I believe Hollywood will be contacting them soon. Two additional local performers ended the show with standing ovations. I will be sure to get all the names and post this info asap.

The annual Art & Pottery Show remained on display throughout the weekend.  The  pottery skills and imagination of the kids & teens captured the spirit of our program.

All pottery is expected to be picked up before September when new activities start.

The studio is pretty quiet these days but we are still willing to offer a workshop, host a group, assist with a birthday party or reunion. Contact Towanda @ 766-2805.

TheTuesday Writing Class was new this summer and had wonderful participation with both classes filled. Kate nad Katie help quide the students through many creative lessons.  The Story books were sent off to the printers and are ready to go home.

We are looking for volunteers for 2010. If you can help in any way, (prep before the Festival, shopping for prizes and food, Teen Carnival Night, Wharf Street Festival Day, Kids Games, Vendors, Fire Department Race, Clean UP, Talent Show, and selling raffle tickets) Please contact us anytime @ 766-2805 to leave a messge. Donations are always appreciated. Our budget is very tight but our spirit is bright!

THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!
