The Town of Long Island collects property taxes twice a year on September 15th and March 15th. If you have questions about your property taxes please contact Tax Collector, at 766-5820 during regular business hours by e-mail at townoflongisland@myfairpoint.net.

Tax relief
The Maine Revenue Service administers several programs that offer tax-relief to permanent residents:
- The Homestead Exemption reduces the taxable value of a permanent residence by $13,000. Other exemptions are available for veterans, blind property owners, and others.
- The Property Tax and Rent Refund Program, also called the "circuit-breaker," provides reimbursements to people whose property taxes or rent are more than 4% of their income.
Property Tax Abatements
Abatements must be filed within the State mandated 185 days of the Municipal Tax Commitment date.
